Edward Gal (NED) became a three-time world champion Friday night at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Ky., USA, following a 91.8 test on the famed Moorlands Totilas.

In the same pattern as the earlier Grand Prix Special, Great Britain's Laura Bechtolsheimer on Mistral Hojris captured the silver and Steffen Peters secured bronze for the United States. Peters already made history this week as the only US rider to medal individually in dressage.

Peters dedicated his evening to friend and fellow-Olympic dressage rider Courtney King-Dye, whose fall off her horse earlier this year without a helmet left her in months of rehabilitation and no longer with the use of her right side. When accepting his medal, Peters symbolically wore a helmet in honor of King Dye.

Steffen Peters medaled for the United States, taking bronze. It is believed that this marks the first US individual dressage medal in a world championship
