Penn State Speaker Series to Feature Rutgers Equine Extension Specialist

Pennsylvania State University's student-sponsored Equine Speaker Series will return later this month to continue providing horse owners and enthusiasts with access to industry professionals and the information they have to offer.
November's speaker will be Carey A. Williams, PhD, Rutgers University equine extension specialist. Williams will deliver her presentation Nov. 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at 112 Forest Resources Building, University Park. Her topic will be "Riding and Research: Mixing business with Pleasure." Williams regularly attends three-day events on the East Coast and has worked closely with some of the top U.S. riders.
The Speaker Series is hosted by student clubs within Penn State's Department of Dairy and Animal Science (DAS). The programs are free and open to the public.
Williams, also associate director of extension in the Equine Science Center at Rutgers, is a competitive three-day event rider and studies exercise physiology in horses, focusing on how to decrease the stress of intense exercise. She will describe her latest researchfindings and will offer insight into what top riders are feeding and supplementing and why
