- Topics: Article
Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) has added a Masters of Science in Horse Science (MSHS) program to its curriculum. With this addition, MTSU is positioning itself to be one of the Southeast's premier undergraduate and postgraduate educational facilities in the horse industry.
The MSHS program's curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for the multifaceted and evolving equine industry. As the equine industry has grown into many disciplines and areas of specialization, the MTSU graduate program has been shaped to equip students to meet those needs. The program will begin in the spring of 2011.
Students can choose from three concentrations offered in the MSHS program:
Equine Physiology, Industry Management, or Equine Education. The Equine Physiology concentration emphasizes an interdisciplinary, science-based curriculum structured to build knowledge of scientific principles and apply these principles to a thesis research project related to equine science. The Industry Management concentration is tailored for students interested in an equine business-related career specializing in marketing and management. The Equine Education concentration will prepare students to teach and provide instruction at a postsecondary equine program or within the Cooperative Extension Service
