Barbara Schmidt to Serve as Next AVMA Treasurer

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) executive board has elected Barbara A. Schmidt, DVM, of Union, Ky., as the association's next treasurer.
Schmidt, an equine practitioner, will officially begin serving as AVMA treasurer in July. The treasurer is a nonvoting member of the executive board.
"It is an honor to serve the AVMA in this capacity," said Schmidt. "I look forward to working closely with the executive board and the house of delegates as we address the future needs of our membership, our profession, and our organization."
"As the owner of an equine practice and breeding facility, I will strive to draw upon my understanding of sound business practices and the impact that the current economy is having on our profession as I take on this new role," she continued. "AVMA is a member-driven association, and, as such, it provides excellent resources and services for its membership. I look forward to continuing this emphasis and communicating this message with our members
