More than 40 allegedly maltreated Quarter Horses–including foals, yearlings, and several pregnant mares–remain under rehabilitative care after being placed in the custody of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (SPCA) of East Texas.

Malnourished Horses

More than 40 horses were seized from a Texas farm, many of them severely malnourished.

The 43 horses were removed from a 70-acre breeding farm in Lindale, Texas, earlier this month after neighbors contacted the SPCA of East Texas about the animals' condition. On Dec. 15, acting on a warrant served by a Smith County District Attorney's Office investigator, personnel from the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the SPCA of East Texas, and the Humane Society of North Texas removed the animals and placed them under rehabilitative care
