Laminitis Horse Course Archived
- Topics: Article
The latest Horse Course from the University of Kentucky's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory and Gluck Equine Research Center (presented by Pfizer Animal Health) is now available for viewing on TheHorse.com.
Jim Belknap, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACVS, an associate professor of veterinary clinical sciences from The Ohio State University's Galbreath Equine Center led the presentation titled "Laminitis." During his presentation, Belknap compared and contrasted sepsis-induced and pasture-associated laminitis.
"The average practitioner is seeing more cases of (pasture-associated laminitis) than sepsis-related laminitis," Belknap said. "Surgeons, especially in the broodmare area, still see plenty of cases of sepsis-related laminitis."
