Dr. Larry Bramlage, Lexington, Kentucky, and C. Wayne McIlwraith, Fort Collins, Colorado, will be the “On Call” veterinarians standing by to assist NBC Sports’ broadcast team during the November 7 Breeders’ Cup Championship Day races at Churchill Downs, Louisville, Kentucky. American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) developed “On Call” as an innovative service to assist the media with providing accurate veterinary information to viewers.
Recognized in 1996 with a Silver Anvil Award of Excellence by the Public Relations Society of America, the program was initiated by AAEP to respond to crisis situations and reply to questions from the media regarding equine health care issues. Drs. Bramlage and McIlwraith are world-renowned orthopedic surgeons. Dr. Bramlage practices at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital and is an adjunct professor at Ohio State University. Dr. McIlwraith, recently named the 1999 Vice President of AAEP, is Director of Equine Sciences and Professor of Surgery at Colorado State University
