Directors of the American Horse Shows Association (AHSA) met in Lexington, Kentucky, on Tuesday, July 10, 2001 and acting as the Voting Members of the corporation, voted to change the Certificate of Incorporation to reflect a new name: USA Equestrian, Inc.
The name change was adopted following a presentation by the AHSA consultants (Helikon Media of Atlanta, Georgia), and lengthy debate and discussion. Of the 46 directors in attendance, 8 opposed the change. The meeting was available for monitoring by the AHSA’s entire membership via the first-ever Internet web-cast of such a meeting. The Helikon presentation, as well as remarks delivered by AHSA president Alan F. Balch, are available at https://www.ahsa.org/EquestrianGovernance/index.html.
