It’s time for you to help your elders—your equine elders, that is. Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines is actively seeking donations of antiques, artwork, gift certificates, and horse-related items to make its silent auction a success. The fund-raiser is scheduled for Sunday,Oct. 21, in West Chester, PA.
Ryerss Farm is a non-profit facility that receives no public funding. The cost to care for and feed just one of the nearly 100 equine residents currently living at Ryerss is approximately $3,650 a year, with most horses staying an average of eight years. The silent auction is just one of the ways Ryerss hopes to gain the financial support it needs to provide for the well-being of its equine retirees.
For the Animals, a local Chester County-based volunteer group, is organizing the event. The 15-member coalition has gained past fund-raising experience by helping to organize sales, raffles, boutiques and other events to support local groups.
“We’ve had success with fund-raisers in the past, but I believe that this auction will provide more support than ever,” said Lucia Still, For the Animals volunteer and auction chairperson
