The majority of the Egyptian Arabian horses removed from a Texas breeding farm in August are now residing in new homes.

More than 70 animals were removed from the Renazans Arabians Ranch in Pilot Point, Texas, after authorities discovered them allegedly living in filthy conditions and inadequate food and water. Ranch operator Gordon Key relinquished the horses to the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) shortly after the seizure. He faces animal cruelty charges.

Since then, two horses died and two were returned to their original owners, said HSNT Equine and Livestock Program Coordinator Sandy Grambort.

Earlier this month, the agency sponsored an event to place the majority of the horses in adoptive homes. Of the 70 horses offered for adoption, 65 were placed with approved owners in the United States, the Czech Republic, and New Zealand. HSNT continues to care for the remaining horses
