Laminitis Researcher to Headline Texas Equine Podiatry Conference

Chris Pollitt, BVSc, PhD, one of the world’s foremost authorities on laminitis, will headline the Second Annual Texas Equine Podiatry Conference, set for November 12-14, 2009 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Other speakers include Stephen O’Grady, BVSc, MRCS, equine podiatrist with Northern Virginia Equine; Mark Caldwell, FWCF, farrier with Myerscough College, England; and Blane Chapman, CJF, of the Chapman family of farriers. Practitioners Dustin Dorris, DVM, CF, from Reata, and Rob Franklin, DVM, Dipl. ACVIM, of Weatherford Equine, also will share practical knowledge from their education and experience.
Open to both veterinarians and farriers, the conference is co-sponsored by the Podiatry Center at Reata Equine Hospital and the Texas Equine Veterinary Association, and includes both lectures and wet lab opportunities. The host hotel is the Hyatt Place Historic Stockyards, where a special room rate includes both breakfast and parking.
Thursday afternoon and Friday will be dedicated to classroom lectures in the Stockman’s Club at the Historic Stockyards Station, while Saturday will be spent in a Wet Lab at the Podiatry Center of Reata Equine Hospital in Weatherford, Texas. Transportation will be provided if needed. Other events include the Thursday night Dinner/Social, at which Pollitt will serve as the keynote speaker, a “Chuckwagon Chat” event, and Saturday’s Outlaw Brunch
