225 Free Horses Placed via Adoption Listings on TheHorse.com
In a little more than a year, 225 Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds have found new homes via their free listings on TheHorse.com's adoption service.
The service is a bulletin board on which owners can list any Thoroughbred or Standardbred offered for free to a good home. It also features resources on horse adoption.

In a little more than a year, 225 Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds have found new homes via their free listings on TheHorse.com's adoption service.
The service is a bulletin board on which owners can list any Thoroughbred or Standardbred offered for free to a good home. It also features resources on horse adoption. Interested individuals contact the horses' owner directly. Gainesway Farm sponsors the Thoroughbred listing, while the U.S. Trotting Association sponsors the Standardbreds.
More than 150 horses are currently available, including experienced show horses, new prospects, and pasture pals.
For example, take a second look at Phunny, a 2002 Thoroughbred gelding. Now healed from a fractured sesamoid, his vet has approved him for dressage and low jumping. His owner writes: "He is very quiet and kind to ride. After being off since May, he let me climb on him from a bucket and did everything I asked. If I pretended to lose my balance he would stop and I had to thump him to keep him going. Suitable for a novice or lessons
