Pa. State officials yesterday (Sept. 28) confirmed that dead crows in Southampton, Bucks County, and Lansdowne, Delaware County, have tested positive for West Nile virus, bringing the total infected birds in the state to four.


Laboratories in the state departments of Agriculture and Health performed tests to confirm the results. The Bucks County crow was found Sept. 17, and the Delaware County crow was found Sept. 12.


“It’s important to remember that, so far, no people or mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile virus in Pennsylvania,” said Health Secretary Robert S. Zimmerman Jr.


“Mosquitoes transmit the virus to people. Still, dead birds can be an important warning sign, and we continue to ask people to be alert to them
