Tennessee horse owners took advantage of fair weather May 5 to bring their horses home from their temporary shelter at the Williamson County Agriculture Center in Franklin.

Owners brought between 200 and 300 horses to the center this past weekend when more than 13 inches of rain fell in Nashville and rural Williamson County in little more than 24 hours.

"A lot of the horses have already gone home," said Center Director Kenny Wallace. "We've only got about 50 here now."

Owner Jill Gerardi-Thomas said her animals weathered the storm without incident. "It's muddy right now, but aside from that everybody's okay," she said
