Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CSU-CVMBS) has announced the launch of its social media communications program, with accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. According to a university announcement, the college invites the public to read CVMBS news and interact via these channels.
"National statistics support the growing use of social media sites as a way to stay connected," said the announcement. "There are more than 3,100 supporters for the Facebook page 'Microbiology Sciences,' for example, while the Veterinary Medicine Field of Study has 3,662 supports. Facebook reports 400 million users worldwide, while LinkedIn reports 60 million users and Twitter is currently at 75 million. Growth in social media shows no sign of slowing down."
The college is using social media to provide information on upcoming events, continuing education, awards and recognitions, speaking engagements, and professional meeting attendance.
The announcement noted that CVMBS' social media sites are places for the public to ask questions and respond to comments and items being posted, as well as offer ideas and input. "Add your voice to the conversation at CVMBS Facebook, CVMBS Twitter and the CVMBS LinkedIn group," noted the announcement.
