At last night's American Horse Publications Annual Awards contest in Lexington, Ky., The Horse: Your Guide To Equine Health Care magazine and TheHorse.com happily received five awards for excellence in equine publishing in 2009. The highly anticipated awards contest attracts hundreds of entries each year from member publishers of equine magazines, books, websites, newsletters, videos, and more. Our parent company, Blood-Horse Publications, received a total of 13 awards (see our complete list of AHP awards).

Our award winners included the following entries:

• "Employment and Immigration," by Pat Raia (Second Place, Service to the Reader, circulation 20,000 and over)

  Judge Comment: "A timely topic is approached in both a practical and personal manner. The story is logically organized and provides a lot of information without overwhelming the reader. This story can be of use to a variety of equine-related fields."
