The Secretary of Agriculture’s Advisory Committee on Foreign Animal and Poultry Diseases will meet May 5-7 in Riverdale, Md., to discuss matters relating to certain foreign animal and poultry diseases.

The meeting will be held in Training Rooms 3 and 4 of the USDA Center at Riverside, 4700 River Road, Riverdale, Md. 20737. Sessions will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 5 and 6, and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on May 7.

The meeting will focus on the U.S. animal health emergency management system and the foreign animal disease situation worldwide and how it affects the United States.

The Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Foreign Animal and Poultry Diseases advises Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman on actions necessary to prevent the introduction of foreign diseases of livestock and poultry into the United States. The committee also advises the Secretary on contingency plans and emergency preparedness should an outbreak of a foreign animal disease occur in our country
