Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) has appointed Liz Harris of Midway, Ky., as its executive director. Harris has served on the TCA board for eight years. Among other fund-raising activities, she recently was on the campaign steering committee for The Lexington School and helped raise $5.5 million and was also in the Lexington Philharmonic Guild for five years. Prior to her relocation to Kentucky, she started, owned and managed E.F. Realty in New York for 11 years. Harris presently owns Speedbeam Wireless with her husband.
Thoroughbred Charities of America, considered the “United Way” of equine charities, is generally recognized as the largest Thoroughbred fund raising organization in the United States. TCA works both independently and with other independent groups to raise monies that are allocated to non-profit organizations that work toward improving the lives of the racehorses and the people who work with them. The other board members include Amy Adkins, Dr. Michael Cavey, Kathleen Crompton, Allaire duPont, Dan Hall, Gretchen Jackson, Michael Levy, Bob Manfuso, Herb & Ellen Moelis, Jim Moran, Dr. James Orsini, Dan Rosenberg, and Rob Whiteley.
