Central Kentucky stallion Lord At War was euthanatized on March 29 at Hagyard-Davidson-McGee veterinary clinic near Lexington, several weeks after he injured a hind leg while attempting to cover a mare at Diane Perkins’ Wimborne Farm near Paris, Ky. Lord At War, who raced as a homebred for Perkins and her late husband, Peter, was taken to the clinic on March 4 after kicking a bucket and suffering a torn tendon.

The 18-year-old stallion underwent surgery and remained at the clinic to recuperate. Argentine-bred Lord At War (General–Luna de Miel, by Con Brio) was a champion miler in Argentina and scored his big win on this continent in the 1985 Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I). He sired 20 stakes winners.
