The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services confirmed West Nile virus (WNV) in a Johnston County horse, the Equine Disease Communication Center (EDCC) reported Nov. 15. This is the fourth confirmed case of WNV in North Carolina horses in 2018.

In 2017, officials confirmed two cases of WNV in North Carolina horses, according to USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service data.
