The Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association (LVMA) Equine Committee has pledged nearly $25,000 to the American Association of Equine Practitioners Foundation over a period of three years to fund scholarships for students in veterinary school at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La.
“This contribution is a great example of ways state organizations can assist students through the AAEP Foundation,” said Clay Murray, AAEP industry liaison director. “The AAEP Foundation serves as the perfect vehicle for this type of localized support.”
The scholarship, which will be allocated at $1,500 per year, will be awarded to junior students entering their senior year at LSU College of Veterinary Medicine. The LVMA Equine Committee also provides continuing education support through its annual fall seminar held during the Super Derby at Louisiana Downs in Shreveport.
