A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing several thousand dollars from a Morgan Horse club based in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

Corporal Terry Arment, spokesman for the East Cocalico Township, Pennsylvania, Police Department, said that in May or June of 2015 Brian A. Rowlands allegedly used his acquaintance with a pet sitter to steal several checks connected to the Pennsylvania Morgan Horse Club’s bank account. The club promotes Morgan Horse breeding and hosts several horse-related social events, he said. Two other checks belonging to the homeowner were also allegedly stolen, Arment said. Of those, one in the amount of $500 was written to Rowlands, Arment said. The pet sitter was not implicated in the alleged crimes, he said.

Arment said Rowlands had his mother cash $4,000 in stolen checks at a Wilkes-Barre bank. He also used banking information connected to the club’s account to make $2,597 in e-payments for his personal cell phone debt.

On Feb. 10, East Cocalico Police arrested Rowlands and charged him with felony counts of forgery, theft, and access device fraud
