New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program has announced that connections of two horses running in the Pegasus World Cup on Jan. 28 have pledged their support to the program’s aftercare efforts.

California Chrome syndicate partner Jan Vandebos-Naify pledged $10,000 if the 2016 Horse of the Year wins, and Starlight Racing has pledged a percentage of Neolithic’s earnings. The two owners hope their pledges might initiate additional support during the weekend of racing at Gulfstream Park, in Hallandale Beach, Florida.

"I am so honored to be part of the California Chrome Syndicate,” said Vandebos-Naify. “As Horse of the Year once again, he has shown his diversity on the track, as well as his ability to bring people together to help other horses in need. I am so pleased to be able to take a portion of my earnings to honor OTTBs (off-track Thoroughbreds). New Vocations is the leader in the aftercare community and one that I am so proud to be affiliated with.”

New Vocations Program Director Anna Ford said, “The costs associated with rehabbing, retraining and rehoming retired racehorses continue to rise each year so the pledged funds are greatly needed and appreciated.
