The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has released the final quarantines in place at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center after horses there tested positive for equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1).

“The last horse remaining in isolation has met the negative test requirements and has been released from quarantine isolation,” the agency said in a statement on its website. “All quarantines on LAEC have been released.”

The quarantine began on Nov. 3, 2016; at the outbreak’s peak, 330 exposed horses were quarantined at the equestrian center.

“To date, 15 cases of equine herpesvirus-1 have been confirmed by the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory,” the CDFA said. “Eight of these horses displayed neurologic signs and were classified as equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy (EHM) cases. The remaining seven horses were febrile with no signs of neurologic disease. One EHM horse was euthanized due to the severity of clinical signs
