Pastured Horse Health, Nutrition Lecture Scheduled, June 21

The University of Maryland Equine Rotational Grazing Demonstration Farm will be hosting a lecture on the health and nutritional needs of the pasture horse on June 21.
The lecture, "Nutrition and Health of the Pastured Horse," will address topics including if pasture alone enough to meet horses’ nutritional needs, how parasites and flies can be controlled when horses are turned out all the time, and how to meet the nutritional and health needs of pastured horses.
Speakers will be:
- Amy Burk, MS, PhD, coordinator of the Equine Studies Program in the Animal and Avian Sciences Department at the University of Maryland; and
- Justin Sobota, MS, MSM, DVM, founder and veterinarian at South Mountain Equine, LLC, an ambulatory veterinary practice in Middletown, Md.
The lecture will take place at the University of Maryland Equine Rotational Grazing Demonstration Site, located at 4241 Folly Quarter Road in Ellicott City, Md. Educational materials will be provided and refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required
