Law enforcement authorities in two Wyoming counties are seeking whoever is responsible for cutting the hair off horses’ tails while they graze in their pastures.
Converse County Sheriff Clint Becker said that his office has received 17 reports about horse hair thefts since mid-August. The latest reports were received on Sept. 11, he said. Meanwhile, Lt. Mark Sellers of the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, said that 23 similar thefts had been reported to his department during roughly the same time period.
Becker said the hair cut mainly from the horses’ tails, was likely stolen to be sold or to be used to make jewelry and other decorative items.
If caught, those responsible could face multiple charges, including trespass and larceny
