The National Weather Service has reported a tornado touched down in Louisville, Ky., near Churchill Downs–the home of the Kentucky Derby–earlier tonight (June 22). According to Churchill Downs spokesman Darren Rogers, there have been reports of loose horses, a number of roofs damaged or torn off, a water main break, and numerous trees down in the area. There are no reported injuries at this time. 

Rogers Beasley, director of racing at Keeneland Race Course, located in Lexington, Ky., said his track was working with Churchill Downs and Sallee Horse Vans to coordinate shelter for horses and people displaced by the tornado.  

"We are aware of the situation and our primary concern is the safety and welfare of both the horses and the people who take care of them," Beasley said.
