Law enforcement authorities in Vermont are seeking whoever is responsible for the shooting death of horse pastured at an East Montpelier farm.

Vermont State Trooper Richard Conlon said that a member of the owner’s family discovered the 31-year-old Arabian dead in its pasture on July 5. The animal had sustained a gunshot wound to the head that shattered its skull, Conlon said. He declined further comment on the ongoing investigation.

The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of those responsible for the shooting.
