Michigan Authorities Probe Horse Shooting

The Mecosta County, Mich., Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting death of a mare discovered fatally wounded in her field on Oct. 24.
Mecosta County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Marshall said the mare had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the heart. Marshall said the fatal wound could have been caused by a stray rifle round.
An investigation is underway, he said.
