Louisiana SPCA Probes Cart Horse Death

Animal welfare authorities in Louisiana are investigating the collapse and death of a horse hitched to a cart on a New Orleans street last week.
Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) spokeswoman Katherine LeBlanc said that on Dec. 18 the horse belonging to a private owner was pulling a cart on Bourbon Street when it collapsed.
"The horse passed out," LeBlanc said. "It was revived then died."
The horse was transported to Louisiana State University for necropsy, she said
