A 4-year-old gelding was euthanized Nov. 27 after a collision during a race at Aqueduct Race Track in Jamaica, N.Y.

The horse, Ryan and Jack, fell on the far turn of the turf track after clipping heels with another horse. While trying to regain his footing, Ryan and Jack was hit by oncoming runner October Dreams. Ryan and Jack suffered a skull fracture that resulted in euthanasia. October Dreams did not appear to suffer any injuries.

Ryan and Jack's jockey, Jason Gracia, is listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit at Jamaica Hospital as of Nov. 28, according to his agent, Jorge Velasquez. Velasquez said that Gracia suffered fractures ribs, a broken collarbone, and a hairline fracture in his neck. He is to undergo further evaluation, the agent said.
