The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal protection organization with more than 7.3 million members and constituents, will hold its 8th Annual National Farm Animals Awareness Week (NFAAW) September 17-23. NFAAW celebrates and promotes the unique and sometimes overlooked qualitites of farm animals, as well as explores their complex nature and behaviors.
“National Farm Animals Awareness Week provides us all—consumers, teachers, children and everyone who cares about animals—the opportunity to become educated on the extraordinary behaviors of farm animals,” said Wende Zimmerman, HSUS program associate for Farm Animals and Sustainable Agriculture. “These animals are interesting and social individuals known to be inquisitive and courageous. Documented cases show how farm animals protect each other, and their human companions as well.”
