  1. Having been a farrier since 1973. Worked on all types of breeds also involved with many veterinarian’s dealing with various foot problem’s with foundered horses, race horses quarter cracks, punctures, abcesses, fractures and etc. In my opinion there is only one sedation method from my experience. It is dormosedan. No question !! Administration while horse is calm. Wait a few minutes then go to work. I do not like the mixture of dormosedan and torbo or anything else. I would say to the vet. If you mix them you get underneath the horse and hold them up. I have had luck with orally ace promizine for weaklings and yearlings. I will not work on a horse with xyalizine. Especially behind. NO THANKYOU. If a race or completion horse check on withdrawal times for Dorm. These opinions comes from years of practical experience.
