The mare first showed clinical signs consistent with WNV on Sept. 15.
The case marks the state’s 17th confirmed case of EEE in 2021.
The pony was vaccinated against WNV and is recovering.
The cases bring the state’s 2021 equine total to seven.
This is Florida’s second confirmed equine West Nile virus case in 2021.
