A horse rescue founder in Galveston County, Texas, is hoping a cash reward will help police identify those responsible for stealing a horse out of the organization’s pasture.
Jerry Finch, founder of the Habitat for Horses equine rescue, said staff members discovered the animal missing on May 29 during a count of the horses on the property. When incident occurred, the 6-year-old bay gelding called Reynolds was grazing in a 50-acre pasture with 50 other animals, Finch said. The other horses were unharmed.
"Sunday evening about 7 (someone) cut the fence on our grazing pasture, put a rope around Reynolds, and walked off,“ Finch said. “According to witnesses, (the alleged thief) pulled the horse from the back of a pickup until traffic backed up, then walked, pulling on the horse when it balked.“
Finch said Habitat for Horses received Reynolds two years ago after he was involved in a law enforcement case
