South Carolina horse owners and trainers can now be certified in the training, knowledge, and routine care of their animals through a new program offered by Clemson Cooperative Extension.

The Master Equine Manager Certification course will take place July 27-28 at the Clemson University Equine Center at 815 W. Queen Street in Pendleton, South Carolina. The July 27 class begins at 3 p.m. and concludes with dinner at 6 p.m. The July 28 class is from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes lunch. The cost is $150. This course has been approved by the Certified Horsemanship Association for continuing education credit for recertification.

Cassie Wycoff, Clemson area livestock and forages agent, designed this new course to give participants “many hands-on opportunities, as well as classroom instruction.” The Master Equine Manager Certification course is part of Wycoff’s plan to develop a statewide adult equine program.

“This course provides both classroom and hands-on practical horse management techniques, essential for anyone who is a horse owner, stable manager, farm employee, groom, or looking to expand their horse knowledge,” she said
