A Texas man is behind bars after being accused of dragging a donkey behind his truck.

Lieutenant Brady Fitzgerald, public information officer for the Montgomery County, Texas, Sheriff’s Department, said law enforcement personnel responded to calls about a donkey being pulled behind a truck in Conroe on Feb. 14. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a donkey was tied to the hitch of a truck, he said. The animal had been pulled for approximately five miles, Fitzgerald said.

A livestock officer called to the scene noted that “the donkey was sweating profusely and that there was a pool of sweat under where it was standing,” Fitzgerald said.

Deputies subsequently arrested Nasim Irsan and charged him with one count of felony cruelty to livestock animals
