Best Barn Dog 2022 Contest Winner: "Daisy"
Congratulations to Cindy Orndorff, whose photo won our 2022 Best Barn Dog contest! In her entry, Orndorff said "Daisy" is the best barn dog because she is nice and gentle around all of the horses, and even rides in the saddle. | Photo: Cindy Orndorff
“Polymer is an adorable 6-year-old collie mix rescued from local humane society. She protects the horses/barn from unwanted critters (mice, rats, moles, groundhogs, flies, bees, etc). She helps find lost shoes in the field and cleans up after the farrier.”
— Alexa Riddle

“George and Marley. George is the trumpet that announces friends arriving at the barn and greets everyone he meets (two- and four-legged) with piercing high, 20-pound dog yips. He is my ambassador to welcome friends and soon-to-be friends, with the mighty growl only when strangers dare come near. His greatest joy is hanging with the horses and playing fence line and sharing Georgie kisses with horse noses. The ever-hopeful Georgie waited patiently for over a year, teaching the barn cats that his love was pure and he meant no harm. Patience, persistence, and Georgie's antics won the day! From shelter dog to barn dog, with a giant heart, George made the transition seamless and joyful. Hands down, George and his compadre Marley are THE best barns dogs!”
— Jill Pritchard

“Hurricane comes to every horse show, is infamous for stealing carrots from grooming totes, and has his own barn dog Instagram! People know him. He is learning to jump judge for horse trials.”
— Kjirsten Sneed Lee

“Charlie is definitely the best barn dog.”
— Jacquelin Karlsen

“Plays well with others.”
— Lisa Martin-Gerdes

“Showing the horses how it’s done! This is Mason, who was a rescue and loves being a barn dog!”
—Bennett Adkins

“This is Lucky. ‘Lucky’ because she was adopted. She is super quick at herding cows and is always beside her barn owner.”
— Melinda Koehler
