Western Gunslinger Dies

The AQHA halter world champion and world champion sire died due to complications from an intestinal tumor.

Western Gunslinger, two-time American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) halter world champion and world champion sire, succumbed to complications from an intestinal tumor on Feb. 6, 2014.

“He fulfilled our dreams and proved himself to be a very special horse,” owners Donnie and Lisa King said in a statement on their website

The 2007 sorrel stallion, by Golden Gunslinger and out of Western N Coolest, was named the AQHA 2008 Open World Champion Yearling Stallion and Amateur Reserve World Champion, and that same year, also unanimously earned the title of Congress Champion Halter Stallion.

In 2009, Western Gunslinger won the 2-year-old Open Division World Champion title. With Lisa King at the shank, he also won the Amateur Yearling Stallions Reserve World Championship
