World renowned equine ophthalmologist Dennis E. Brooks, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACVO, will travel monthly to Brazos Valley Equine Hospital, in Navasota, Texas, to receive and perform surgery on equine ophthalmology patients beginning in May, according to a statement from the hospital.

Brooks, a professor of ophthalmology at the University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine, will begin his monthly visits May 28-29, and will return to the hospital on the last Tuesday and Wednesday of every month to evaluate both complicated referrals and primary cases, the statement said.

"He will be performing detailed ophthalmic exams to develop advanced treatment plans and performing eye surgeries including corneal grafts, corneal transplants, cataract surgeries, and enucleations (eye removals), among others," the statement said.

Appointments are expected to fill quickly, and those interested in making an appointment with Brooks are asked to contact Brazos Valley Equine Hospital at 936/825-2197
