Parker, a 10-year-old Thoroughbred gelding ridden and owned by James Alliston (GBR), is resting comfortably after a fall at the second fence on yesterday’s cross-country course at the 2012 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by Bridgestone.

“Parker was very smart,” said Fédération Equestre Internationale Veterinary Delegate Catherine Kohn, VMD, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM. “He basically got the wind knocked out of him yesterday. He laid there for a while catching his breath, but then he was eating grass lying down.”

Kohn said that at that point, the attending veterinarians were able to roll Parker up on his side, and the horse “stood right up and walked into the trailer.” He was then taken back to his stall, Kohn said.

“He got some fluids and was pretty comfortable last night, so no serious injuries whatsoever,” Kohn said
