The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has published in the Federal Register a notice of intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to analyze the potential impacts of the proposed northeast Nevada wild horse ecosanctuary.

The proposal is to create a wild horse ecosanctuary of a non-reproductive herd on most of the existing Spruce Grazing Allotment, including about 14,000 acres of private land and 508,000 acres of public land, approximately 25 miles southeast of Wells, Nev. The notice of intent opens a 30-day public scoping period that will end Sept. 15, or 15 days after the last public scoping open house. Representatives will be on hand at each scoping open house to answer questions.

Public scoping open houses are scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. at the following dates and locations:
