The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking horses diagnosed with osteoarthritis to take part in a sponsored research study examining an arthritis treatment to learn if the product is effective in horses. Alicia L. Bertone, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACVS, Trueman Chair in Equine Clinical Medicine and Surgery at OSU, will lead the study.

The researchers ask that horses have a confirmed diagnosis of osteoarthritis, be off all pain medications for one week prior to appointment, and not have had any joint injections within two months of enrollment.

Horses accepted into the study will be housed at OSU’s Galbreath Equine Center for two weeks to participate in the research. Costs for the procedures and boarding are covered by the study for qualified enrolled horses. In addition, owners receive a debit card worth $300 if the study is completed.
