Brenda Keiner of Elite Horse Clothing, Inc., invented The Belly Dickie to prevent gnat bites on horses.

The Belly Dickie
Fly sheets generally don’t prevent gnat bites because they fit through most mesh, and most fly sheets don’t cover the belly adequately. As an engineer, Keiner created something that keeps gnats off the belly—it’s engineered for comfort and durability, with a removable, and washable, sheath shield for male horses.

The Belly Dickie is made from sturdy mesh fabric with soft neoprene edging. It provides an effective physical barrier against insects and allows current wounds and rashes from gnat bites to heal. The mesh is held to a horse’s belly with a webbing harness, designed with a deep front “V.” It’s durable and will stand up to months of continuous wear. There are three sizes for pony, horse, and draft breeds.
