The North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) is pleased to announce that through the assistance of the NARHA/AQHA Alliance, 11 NARHA Centers received grants totaling $33,977.30. These grants were made possible through America’s Horse Cares, a program established in 2005 by the American Quarter Horse Foundation to support equine-assisted activities at NARHA Centers.
NARHA executive director Sheila Kemper Dietrich said, “I’m proud to share the news of these grants, which are of such great benefit to our centers. This is just one example of the way active involvement with an association like the American Quarter Horse Association can be meaningful for our NARHA Centers and increase awareness of the incredible impact of equine-assisted activities.”
AQHA’s generosity demonstrates a commitment to quality equine-assisted activities because eligibility for these grants was restricted to NARHA member centers that are required to uphold the strict quality standards of NARHA.
Centers receiving grants from the America’s Horse Cares program were: Circle of Hope Therapeutic Riding Inc., Barnesville, Md.; Free SPIRIT, Fond du Lac, Wisc.; Handicapped High Riders Club Inc., Allentown, N.J.; Horse Warriors, Jackson, Wyo.; HORSEPOWER Therapeutic Learning Center, Colfax, N.C.; MTRA-Marion Therapeutic Riding Association Inc.. Ocala, Fla,; Mounted Eagles Therapeutic Horsemanship, Motley, Minn.; Special Equestrians Inc., Warrington, Penn.; Stir-n-Up Hope Inc., Rockport, Ind.; SunDance Riding Therapy Inc., Dilworth, Minn.; and Three Gaits Inc. Oregon/Wisconsin
