In my favorite movie of all time, The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy, Toto, and friends set out down the yellow brick road in search of the “wonderful land of Oz” and the mighty wizard who lives therein.

Well, there may not be a wizard proper where I’m headed, but as I write this, equine-media representatives from around the country are descending on Lexington, Kentucky, for the 2010 American Horse Publications seminar.

Lexington, as you know, is the site of the forthcoming 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian GamesÑthe Oz of horse sports, at least for this year.

As you might expect, the WEG will figure prominently in planned AHP activities this week. I’m most excited about Thursday’s tour of Lexington, and especially the Kentucky Horse Park, which stands to offer us a sneak peek at WEG preparationsÑeverything from road construction to the gorgeous new outdoor stadium and indoor arena. I last visited Lexington last fall, and I’ve seen a number of these facilities, but although the permanent structures were completed, the infrastructure and many other details were far from finished
