A great line came out of the discussion during the Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAVM) rounds this afternoon. During the informal back and forth about raising practitioner awareness of alternative therapeutic modalities and perhaps increasing the number of presentations offered on these therapies at future AAEP conventions, one of the attendees raised a critical point. “At the end of the day, the AAEP is in the education business.”

You’d expect education to be at the top of everyone’s minds during what is, essentially, a forum for continuing education. But, the ways in which education takes place are vast. Not all learning happens in a lecture hall, classroom, laboratory, or conference. Sometimes education happens one-on-one, over the dinner table, in a conversation, while waiting in line for the restroom.
