The race is on toward better equine health. Morris Animal Foundation (MAF) has committed nearly $600,000 toward 14 new and continuing veterinary studies for horses in 2005. Foundation-funded scientists at universities throughout the United States will study critical health issues, including cancer, foal pneumonia, colic, laminitis, genetic diseases, neurologic disorders, eye infections, pain management, and pulmonary disorders.
Overall, the organization has approved more than $4.2 million in 2005 to fund 107 veterinary studies for dogs, cats, horses, llamas/alpacas, and wildlife.
