According to an Indianapolis newspaper and television station, four horses were stabbed in their Zionsville paddock late on Oct. 5 or very early on Oct. 6. One of the horses was killed in the attacks. The horses were found by their owner, Kathy Orr, the morning of Oct. 6. Indianopolis WISH TV Channel 8 reported that Orr’s neighbor, Matthew Pearce, was arrested on Oct. 8. Pearce was wanted on four felony counts of cruelty to an animal and one charge of obstruction of justice.

WISH reported that Orr “told officers she awoke Wednesday (Oct. 6) to feed her horses in the rural area about 10 miles north of Indianapolis and found one dead in its corral and three others seriously injured. She believes the attack stems from a dispute she had with Pearce and his girlfriend, Teresa Woods. Five weeks or so before the attack, she told Pearce and Woods to stay in their side of the property after items began disappearing from her barn.”

Woods was arrested on the same charges as Pearce on Oct. 7. She has been released on bond.

The Indiananapolis Star reported that “all of the horses had stab wounds, slash wounds, and cuts that were bleeding profusely
