Maury County, Tennessee, authorities are blaming an electrical malfunction for a barn fire that killed five Tennessee Walking Horses.

Maury County Fire Investigator Alex Murillo said fire personnel responded to a 911 call concerning a barn fire near Columbia during the late afternoon on Aug. 20. Five Tennessee Walking Horses were in the ban at the time of the fire, Murillo said.

Upon arrival firefighters discovered the barn completely engulfed in flames, and all five horses died in the blaze, he said.

The Maury County Fire Department, the Maury County Sheriff's Department, and the Tennessee State Office of Bomb and Arson investigated the fire, Murillo said
